Homer Kizer

Homer Kizer, was chosen as one of America 's Top Craftsmen working with traditional tools. He offers Hand Carved Treenware as accoutrements for Reenactors and Living Historians, and as collectables for Museums and Galleries.

Homer previously carved wood in Old Bedford Village, PA, dba Old Bedford Mercers. There he entertained and educated visitors carving with hand adzes handmade crooked knives, reducing a block of hardwood into useable shapes before their eyes. All of the treenware he makes are from a single piece of wood; all are food safe and intended for use. While anyone can own a wood bowl from a bowl mill, few can possess a bowl carved truly by hand into shapes other than round.

Homer carves in the Northwest Coast tradition, carving utilitarian or totemic bowls that are within the financial reach of most everyone. His work can be seen where he demonstrates traditional pre-contact or early contact American woodworking techniques. His work will also be available at a few week-long reenactments.
